Here Comes the Bride

I can't believe it!  I'm getting married in 90 days!  It may seem a little obsessive to count the days, but we have been together for over 5 1/2 years.  And we've been discussing getting married for the majority of that time.  Now that the timing is right to finally take a moment for ourselves, I couldn't be more excited!

You would think that anticipating this day for (literally) years would mean we have everything in order and know just what we want.  Well, here we are... 90 days to go... and still so many decisions to be made!  It seems overwhelming at times and blissfully fun at other times.  I only hope that I can hang on to each and every moment as the process unfolds so that some day down the road as Josh and I sit in our front porch, watching our grandchildren play, we can look back and reminisce on the adventure that started it all!

Flower Girl Dress

We have started our premarital counseling.  (For lack of better words.)  We have a wonderful mentor couple, and I feel we are well on our journey to a marriage that includes God, Josh, and myself.  I am currently praying that I will be able to fulfill my role as an obedient and submissive wife, letting Josh lead our family.  These will be true tests for me and will require daily prayer and guidance from God.

We know where the wedding is going to be and what theme we are going with!  We have chosen my dress, invitations, flower girl dresses, and food!  We have spent countless hours debating cakes, pies, decorations, attire, photographers, etc.  Tonight we will tackle the final cake design (after baseball is over, of course).  Follow me on Pinterest to see my rather chaotic obsession with pinning wedding ideas.  You will also get an idea of the feel that we are taking with things!  (Or you can visit our wedding website!)


It's never ceases to amaze me that I can spend hours thinking about wedding details and ideas.  However, when I lay down at night all I can think about is how completely and utterly incredible it will be to finally be Mrs. Joshua Marick.  The thought of waking up everyday, sharing every moment, and loving each other into eternity brings peace to my soul.  And in those moments, I'm able to realize that it doesn't matter what shoes I wear or how I fix my hair... at the end of the day, I will be married to my best friend!

White Queso Dip

I found a recipe for White Queso dip on Pinterest so I decided to give it a whirl.  I did change it up a bit because... well, I can.  So here is what I did, and it was oh so yummy!

Ingredients:

• 1 pound of white American cheese (got the Kroger brand from the deli)
• 1/4 cup of Monterey Jack cheese
• 1 can of Rotel with lime and cilantro (drained the juices)
• 1/4 cup of onion
• Half and half 
• 1 Tbs. Olive Oil

Steps to White Queso Dip Bliss:

• Shred all cheeses (don't buy the already shredded kind and cheat)
• Chop onion (I use a choppy thing so it gets chopped really fine)
• Heat olive oil in a sauce pan on med. heat
• Add onions and saute them on med. low heat
• Add 1/4 cup of half and half and Rotel
• Put in all cheeses and stir your heart out until it's all melted!
• Add half and half as needed until you reach your desired consistency

Options (which I will use next time on half of the recipe because some of us like a spicier dip):

•  Seed and dice one jalapeno (I'll use the choppy thing on this as well) and throw it in with everything else!

It was easy breezy and super yummy!  It was also fine to throw in the microwave and reheat as needed!  For the Pinterest version (which is very similar) visit this site.

More Hair

My sweet girl, Lexie, has come to expect some type of "fancy" hair for every occasion now.  I'm not all that great at doing hair.  That's more my mom's department.  So when she came to me on Thanksgiving and asked what type of hairstyle I was going to give her for the day, it threw me for a loop.  I had nothing prepared.  I decided to go with something simple since I didn't have lots of time to do a hairstyle, and this is what we came up with!

I had seen a "knot" hairstyle on Pinterest that we had tried one night.  It took a long time, and I had yet to perfect it.  So I took that and simplified.

First, I parted off a little bit of hair in the front.  Then, I split it into two sections and tied it (like the first part of tying your shoes).  Next, I grabbed some more hair to add to each section and tied it again.  After that "knot" I put in a clear ponytail holder and called it good.  Her hair stayed great and she loved it.  The best part was it only took me about 3-5 minutes!

I think we'll do this one again.  Cute, easy, and a great alternative to the normal "half up and half down" that I do to keep the hair out of her face.
